Slash Dot Dash Podcast 010: Cassegrain

We’re excited to announce our Slash Dot Dash Podcast series is 10! What started in October 2010 with a mix from XI, reaches it’s 10th episode with a mix from Prologue Records artist, Cassegrain.

After a chance meeting at the Red Bull Music Academy, in Barcelona, Cassegrain was formed.

The project explores the ground between dark, raw techno and UK influenced sounds, trying to find a balance between experimental and club orientated music.

For the A side of their debut 12", on Mikrowave, the pair worked with dubstep luminary, Benga, who provided his vocals for the first time. Following this, Cassegrain signed to Prologue, Dropa EP and later this month, the Coptic EP, which will be their 3rd 12".

Cassegrain perform Live and DJ, their live act includes a mixture of software, hardware and additional elements that change each time.

It's their DJs skills on show for our 10th Podcast. We've been trying to tie the pair down for almost 6 months, but their busy schedule had forced the mix back, but we're finally able to add Cassegrain to our ever expanding Slash Dot Dash Podcast Family.

You can get the mix either by subscribing to the podcast in iTunes or you can download or stream the mix from the Soundcloud player below

Cassegrain - Coptic EP [Prologue 025]

Cassegrain kick off 2012 with their second release on SDD favourite, Prologue Records. Their first release on the label 'Dropa EP' [PRG021], for us was one of the best releases of the year and got plays in every corner of the techno world.

Prologue 025 reaches the same heights as the pair demonstrate the skills that have made them a hot new property on the techno scene. Full to the brim with harrowing dub influenced rhythms and down right scary atmospherics which would unsettle those of a slightly nervous disposition. All four track encompass the same ventures into experimental techno and mind altering electronic music, which can be found in everything they do. Check out the samples below.

The release will be in the shops towards the end of the month on both vinyl and digital. The Prologue Facebook Fan Page is where you find all you'll need to know about them. Or follow them on Twitter. The same goes for Cassegrain with their Facebook and Twitter.

Mix Of The Day: Smoke Machine Podcast 026 - Cassegrain

After a chance meeting at the Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona, Cassegrain was formed. With the idea in mind of fusing raw, industrial techno with UK influences to create their signature sound. Their first release on Mikrowave last year saw them team up with UK Dubstep artist, Benga, who's own vocals featured on the release.

It didn't take long for Cassegrain to start getting noticed and they soon found themselves on one of the best labels of the last 12 months, Prologue. We featured their Dropa EP back in July.

The Smoke Machine Podcast series got in touch with the pair to ask them to provide a mix for them, and they duly accepted and below are the results.

Cassegrain - Dropa EP [Prologue 021]

Here at Slash Dot Dash we're big fans of Prologue, tracks from the label can be found on both of XI's SDD Podcasts, but for some reason we've never covered any of their releases. Until now anyway.

Released last week is the Dropa EP from Cassegrain. A quality 3 tracker of droning minimalist styled techno. All 3 tracks brilliant yet different. Luban is a chugger, Eub is more driving and Lop-Nor is deep and atmospheric. Check out the samples below.

The release is available in all good record stores now so go get it. More info on Cassegrain can be found on the Facebook Fan Page or you can start following them on Twitter
