Mikkel Metal / Resoe - The Copenhagen Split EP [Echocord Colour 15]

New release time for one of our favourite Dub Techno labels, Echocord Colour. Now on to their 15th release after previous works from Sebastian San, Mike Dehnert, Luke Hess, Brendon Moeller, Kenneth Christiansen with Resoe as Pattern Repeat, and featured remixes from Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock and Robag Wruhme.

Release 15 combines two of the labels mainstays Mikkel Metal and Resoe on the aptly title 'Copenhagen EP'. Resoe's 'Redlightsareflashin' is more dancefloor orientated than his recent Album. Mikkel Metal's 'Fubre' is more peak time but still retains his usual deep dub style.

The EP is expected to drop at the end of this month / start of June. As ever will be available in all the usual spots. More info on Mikkel Metal can be found on his Facebook Fan Page and for Resoe, check out his Website

Sigha - I Am Apathy, I Am Submission / The Black House / Between Here And Yesterday [Blueprint Records 032]

You may just be getting over the O/V/R 'Post Traumatic Son' Triple pack which featured massive remixes from Ben Klock, DVS1, Robert Hood and finally Marcel Dettmann but there's plenty more on the way. BP031 sees James Ruskin link up with the Beardman himself, Mark Broom for another collaboration but at the moment we're focussing on BP032 by Sigha.

The release takes the shape of a 3 tracker, 'I Am Apathy, I Am Submission', 'The Black House' and 'Between Here And Yesterday'. 'I Am Apathy, I Am Submission' kicks off the release with a furious pace with it's frantic stabs drifting in and out of the mix. 'The Black House' drones along with a bassline that constantly kicks you in the back of the head. 'Between Here And Yesterday' is a slower affair, but what it lacks in aggression it makes up for in depth, emotion and subtlety.

The release will be out in the summer of this year. And don't forget we're still waiting with anticipation for the second release on his Our Circula Sound label, 'Politics Of Dying'.

You can stay up to date with all of Sigha's latest news through his Facebook Fan Page or by following him on Twitter

EarToGround pres Mike Dehnert & Shifted @ East Village (20th May 11)

Our pick of this weeks London events is a pretty easy one. Our friends at EarToGround have lined up another Friday night basement session at East Village. You'll remember the last one they put on, just before Xmas, when James Ruskin tore the place apart in the way he knows best.

Tonight's event has an equally impressive line up. Fachwerk Records boss, Mike Dehnert, is flying at the moment. His label is gathering more and more fans with every release, his album has just dropped on Delsin Records to critical acclaim and to top it all off he's getting booked all over Europe at great venues like Tresor, Culture Box, Trouw and the legendary Berghain. It's been years since we saw him play in the Lost Souls room at Rabid festival and we're highly excited to see what he comes up with this time.

The next guest is shrouded in mystery. Shifted has very much appeared from nowhere and with no visible trail behind them. Releases on Mote Evolver, their own Avian label, Syndrome Z and a remix of Furesshu of Project Squared Records has captured the eye of the techno community. We're expecting big things from them tonight!

ETG frontman, Gareth Wild, will lead the support line and he's joined by Anderson and Kieran James to kick the night off in style. Tickets are still available for tonight's event through Resident Advisor, otherwise you can pay on the door but it will be slightly more.

Perc - My Head Is Slowly Exploding [Perc Trax 045]

Perc has been a bit quiet of late on the production front, but there's been a very good reason for that. Recent releases on his Perc Trax label have featured stunning techno from Sawf, Forward Strategy Group and Justin Berkovi have kept more than highly entertained whilst Perc has been locking himself away to work on his debut album 'Wicker And Steel'.

Perc Trax 045 sees the first remix pack from the album. Featuring re edits from Ancient Methods and Chris Carter as well as Perc's Original. Ancient Method's thumping, aggressive, two step approach is balanced out perfectly with the floating head trip from Throbbing Gristle's, Chris Carter. The Original features an array of vicious stabs layered over a subtle, yet solid, 4/4 beat and maintains that dark techno feel we know and love him for.

Check out the samples below

This remix pack has really got us excited as to what the album will like. The EP will be in the shops next Friday 20th May and the album will be available from the 10th June.

The launch party for the album takes place somewhere in East London on that very same day and will feature performances from Perc, Truss, Forward Strategy Group, our very own resident Chris Stanford and a few more as well. More info and tickets for the party, hosted by Techno Therapy, can be found on the Resident Advisor Event Page

So if you're in Berlin next Friday, you'll agree there's only one place you need to be making plans for. Entrance is 10 euro's and doors open at midnight. For more info on this, and future, events, hit up the Grounded Theory Facebook Fan Page

Jonas Kopp unveils 'Manzel'

The man from Buenos Aires and one of techno's brightest young stars has had tracks and remixes released on labels like Stroboscopic Artefacts, Curle, Perc Trax, but Jonas Kopp now feels it's time to make his own mark on the underground techno world with his very on vinyl only imprint, Manzel.

Jonas has uploaded a snippet of the first release to youtube, and here it is.....

We don't know when the label will be up and running or when the first release will be in the shops, but when it is, we'll be straight down there picking up our copy! We'll let you know some more information on this, as soon as we have it!

Mike Dehnert Interview

Whether it's as a globe trotting DJ, chart topping producer or ground breaking label boss, Mike Dehnert is in serious demand right now. His latest album 'Framework' has been getting rave reviews all over the world.

Ahead of his performance at EarToGround next Friday, they caught up with him for a chat...

Where the in world are you right now?

At this moment I stay in Berlin

What have you been up to recently?

I had a lot to do with my Album on Delsin rec.and a lot of Gigs like very nice parties and a lot of traveling (transfer)

You like to push the audio envelope. Some of your tracks sound near to distortion but fused with the other elements always sound amazing especially on the dance floor. Can you tell us about your sound and approach to making music?

At first for me it’s not important how do you make music like digital or analog so I produce completely analog.

I like it to make soundexperiments like be creative with the limits (not distortion!:-)).
I will take the Techno sound in the next higher level(for me).

But everytime with focus on the Dance floor with creating feelings (emotions, erotism) with sounds ,Tracks.

I try to establish a emotion in tracks so It’s very interesting in to create (for example)a Techno track with erotism and than I test it in My DJ-Set’s on the dance Floor.

So I can also say that I don’t play tracks in my DJ set’ I play emotions or I mix emotions on the dance floor.

What do we have to look forward to from you and Fachwerk?

….some new releases are ready like on clone

Mike Dehnert - Oblique

and I have a lot of new releases planned like for my next “deeply rooted house” and echocord color, again, MD2 part 4…………

I also found a new Label calling “Colombage” like again a small division of Fachwerk with more focus on Tech-House music like a other nice platform for sound dance floor experiments. The first release is calling MIJU EP , the 12″ is coming in two weeks.

Reno Wurzbacher & Mike Dehnert - Miju EP

After the actual Fachwerk FW018 release from Sascha Rydell comes Roman Lindau again with a realy cool 2 tracker release so I think Roman’s 12″ FW019 comes in 3-4 Weeks and than I will do a EP….

I have also a lot of remix and release requests what I have to cancel becouse I also have to spent a lot of my times for managing my Labels so I will see………..

Any message for your fans in London?

so let’Z Rooockkkkkkkkkk

Mike Dehnert will be playing in London on the 20th May alongside Shifted at the next EarToGround Party @ East Village. Tickets are on sale through Resident Advisor now

Mix Of The Day: O/V/R - Resident Advisor Podcast 257

We was gutted to miss the O/V/R live set at March's Blueprint Records Party (turned up 15 mins after they had finished), but Resident Advisor have gone some way to making it up for us, with this live recording from an O/V/R set earlier on this year in Berlin.

O/V/R is a production / live project from two of the UK's most influential techno heads, James Ruskin and Karl O'Connor AKA Regis. It's a project that's really moving at the moment with performances at Berghain and Cable London this year and a massive 3 part remix pack of their 'Post Traumatic Son' release which features interpretations from Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Robert Hood and DVS1. Resident Advisor thought now would be a good time for James and Karl to showcase their sound on RA's legendary podcast series.

You can download the mix either directly or through iTunes using the following links

There's a quick interview with the pair over on Resident Advisor where they discuss the ideas around the project. All other info on O/V/R can be found on the Blueprint Records Facebook Fan Page

Slash Dot Dash Podcast 005: Sawf

It's a new month which means it's time again for a new podcast. For this episode, we set sail for Greece and cast the controls over to Sawf.

Fresh from the release of his debut album 'Flaws' on Perc Trax at the end of 2010, and with the latest remix package released last month, featuring re edits from Berghain's Marcel Fengler and Go Himaya, it's an exciting time for Sawf.

After being so impressed with his production skills we invited him to showcase his considerable DJ talents for our podcast series and he hasn't disappointed. His atmospheric, industrial style of techno made for a perfect addition.

You can subscribe to our podcast series in iTunes to get this mix, all past mixes and the mixes to come in the future
