Samuli Kemppi - Archives [Free Downloads]

Helsinki based DJ, producer, radio host and all round general nice guy, Samuli Kemppi, has further enhanced his reputation as an all round general nice guy, by giving away some free music.

Archives comprises of a number 0f old unreleased tracks that have been collecting dust on Samuli's hard drive, so what better to do with them, than expose them to the general public? Having already made a name for himself with releases on M_Rec, Mote Evolver, Ostgut Ton, Perc Trax, Prologue, Time To Express and a few more, there's good reason why we rate the man so highly. His performance for us at Slash Dot Dash is still one of the best live sets I've had the pleasure of seeing.

Parallel Series 2: Shifted & Samuli Kemppi [Mote Evolver 028]

Mote Evolver drops its first release of 2012 with the second edition of it's Parallel Series. Parallel Series 1 combined Luke Slater's L.B. Dub Corp alias with ASC to create an EP with contrasting, but complimenting, sounds within.

The same rules apply of number 2. The artists in question this time are UK rising star, Shifted and former Slash Dot Dash guest and all round nice guy, Samuli Kemppi. Both display a level of skill and creativity in their work which only goes to show why these two individuals are so respected around the techno community.

Shifted kicks off the release with 'Gates' with it's thundering kick and piercing hats is sure to be a dancefloor destroyer. 'Spire' steps up the intensity, filled with industrial overtones and ghostly wafts of white noise. The flip side hands over to Samuli. 'Trans Neptunian' is driving and tough yet warming and somewhat jacking, whilst 'Detached Object' rounds off the EP with subtle progressions of sparse melodies and sub heavy frequencies as the momentum builds for those epic late night moments. The January blues are long forgotten and 2012 is well into the swing of things. Two weekends into February and the quality techno is coming thick and fast. We've got a number of parties happening this weekend to tell you about, spanning continents and even oceans. There's plenty to mention so I'll be brief. We kick off with our hometown....

London - Friday

Basing House is our new home for Slash Dot Dash and we're in some very good company. Two weeks ago Redshape headlined for Bread & Butter, and tonight Make Me host the man from Minneapolis, DVS1. Tickets are available from Resident Advisor

fabric seemed to of stepped up their commitment to providing London with world class techno, week in week out. We've already seen the likes of Sandwell District, Sigha, Delta Funktionen and Skudge. This week sees a Berghain takeover as Norman Nodge and Ben Klock join Terry Francis in Room 2. Get your tickets at Resident Advisor

After the big success of last weeks fabric Room 2 takeover, Hotflush take the show on the road, West down the M4 to one of the UKs most influential music cities, Bristol. Scuba, Sigha and George Fitzgerald again feature at the Lakota Club. Tickets on Resident Advisor

Culture Box continues to keep the big line ups coming. Saturday sees two very big Slash Dot Dash favourites in Samuli Kemppi and Dasha Rush. New York - Saturday

Finally we come to the end of our Weekend Roundup and we finish with something rather special happening across the pond in New York. Oktave team up with Sama to help them celebrate their 1st birthday and they do it in style. They've looked to Berlin and selected Stroboscopic Artefacts boss, Lucy, and CLR shining star, Tommy Four Seven to join Oktave resident and Perc Trax artist, Jeff Derringer at a secret location somewhere in Brooklyn. Mix Of The Day: Samuli Kemppi - Live @ Archives #4 (13th May 11)

Todays mix of the day features a live set from one of our favourite past guests (actually they're all favourites, couldn't possibly pick just one), Samuli Kemppi. Playing alongside Peter Van Hoesen at the Suicide Circus Club in Berlin last month for the latest edition of the Archives Series.

Those of you that saw him perform for us last November at the Rhythm Factory will know just how good a live performance Samuli gives. So you won't want to wait before checking out the live set below....

Samuli Kemppi has been very busy of late. Radio shows, DJ demos, remixes and a string of productions. His latest release comes on Luke Slater's Mote Evolver label. The EP consists of 3 new tracks 'Quantum Mechanics', 'Complex Numbers' and 'Linear Function' and is finished off with a remix of 'Complex Numbers' by P.A.S.

With just 10 days till our next party our headliner, Samuli Kemppi has put together a new mix to wet your whistles and get the anticipation building to near bursting point.

Samuli describes this as a "Deep techno dj set recorded live on 3rd November 2010 with 2x SL1210 and Ecler Nuo 4 mixer. No edits, no fixes, just music on vinyls on one take"

It's probably about time we announced details of our next event......... so here it is

Slash Dot Dash is going back to its' roots, back to where it all began 3 years ago with that amazing night at The Rhythm Factory.

We may be getting all nostalgic over the venue but as usual we're staying at the very front of cutting edge underground techno. And to do this we're flying in a couple of firsts.

A live set from Samuli Kemppi and a DJ set from Milton Bradley have never been heard across London soundsystems.......... until now!

The rest of the line up will, of course, be filled by our residents, XI and Chris Stanford.

The flyer and more details will be coming soon, but until then you can occupy yourselves, and saving a few quid at the same time by picking up your £10 early bird tickets which can be found on the Resident Advisor Event Page
